Missionary homes

The Pilgrim’s Friend Society (PFS) is making two more fully equipped homes available for missionaries on home leave.
According to Louise Morse of the PFS, a rise in bookings since the society took over the Redbourn Missionary Trust last year has meant there are few vacancies over the next 12 months.
Therefore, this month, PFS is making available a three-bedroom house in Suffolk, three miles from Stowmarket — near the PFS’s Finborough Court Pilgrim Hall — and a three-bedroom bungalow in Wellsborough, Coventry.
Louise said both locations offer the benefit of a comfortable, furnished home in a peaceful, Christian setting, where families on home leave can enjoy fellowship with Christian staff in the care homes and with residents.
Phil Willis, manager of the Redbourn Missionary Trust and former manager of the Wellsborough care home, said, ‘Our residents love to support missionaries, and much of their prayer life is focused on missionary work.
‘Those who come for home leave will find a great welcome. On the other hand, they are in peaceful settings, so they can also enjoy rest and tranquillity. The good road structure means they are not far away from the main motorways for travelling to other places’.
There are now 13 schemes across the country, offering housing for missionaries’ home leave and retirement flats for missionaries, as well as various types of sheltered housing and residential, nursing and dementia care for others.
