Support for Swindon

Swindon Evangelical Church was filled to capacity for the ordination of Rob Tylee as part-time pastoral assistant with responsibility for training and evangelism. Brought up in Swindon, Rob gave a clear and comprehensive account of his conversion as a teenager and how he soon felt a sense of being called into the Lord’s service.

Undertaking the FIEC’s Prepared for Service training course led to Rob moving to Bristol to take up a placement at Kensington Baptist Church, where he became a pastoral assistant while also working full time as a lecturer in Swindon.

Feeling led to move back to Swindon, during his family’s first visit to the church, the Lord confirmed this to be the place to prepare for further ministry.

Pastor Paul Williams explained the eldership’s concern to strengthen the pastoral team with a man who would complement, not duplicate, the existing ministry. Since his time in Swindon, Rob has preached regularly and established a leadership training course, now in its second year.

Following a growing conviction that Rob had been set apart by God, the church voted to appoint him as pastoral assistant, and Rev. Williams expressed his delight in welcoming Rob to this ministry.

Rev. Andy Paterson preached with characteristic passion and clarity from Acts 20 on the marks of godly, biblical leadership. He reminded Rob to be an encourager, a developer, and a team player, and to foster diversity in his ministry – all made possible only by God’s grace and empowering.
