Assistant pastor for Limes
Steve Dennis has been inducted as the new assistant pastor of Limes Avenue Baptist Church in Aylesbury.
After gaining a degree in mechanical engineering, and working in industry for five years designing scientific instruments, Steve felt called by God to full-time Christian service.
Already an active member of Hook Evangelical Church where he grew up, Steve began a two-year course of training there in conjunction with the Reading-based Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches’ course, ‘Prepared for service’.
During that time, he was involved in children’s and youth work at the church and a local secondary school. He was also active in holiday Bible clubs and open-air evangelism, taking part in numerous United Beach missions, more recently as leader.
In his appointment at the Aylesbury church, he will take responsibility for developing the ministry to children, young people and families, and will continue training in preaching and pastoral work.
The induction service held in September was chaired by Alan Harvey, pastor of Limes Avenue Baptist Church. The charge to the church was given by David Chapman, Association Secretary of the Grace Baptist Churches, South East; while Paul Pease, pastor of Hook Evangelical Church, gave the charge to the new assistant.
Many from the church at Hook joined the Aylesbury church to support Steve and his wife Rebecca. So a congregation of about 200 gave praise to God for his leading and provision in this new appointment.
