Young believers told, ‘don’t fear the world’

February 2021 | by William Frizelle

In September around 60 socially-distanced people gathered at Welcome Hall Evangelical Church (WHEC) in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, for the induction of Gordon Robbins as Associate Pastor.

Pastor Jeremy Brooks led the service, which was also broadcast online. He preached from Mark 10, emphasising how ministry is all about Christ rather than us.

Gordon is married to Jane and they have three adult children. He grew up in Worcestershire and worked in the police before devoting his time to Christian ministry, first as leader of Perdiswell Community Church, Worcester (a church plant from Woodgreen Evangelical Church), and then working with other local churches.

WHEC had been seeking a man to help develop the church’s wide-ranging community outreach and provide pastoral ministry and care alongside Pastor Jeremy Brooks.

The church was put in touch with Gordon via mutual contacts, and after discussions with the church officers, Gordon (along with Jane) was able to meet the whole church for fellowship. Gordon was also able to preach the Word shortly before lockdown in March.

Gordon then accepted a call issued by the church. The start date was postponed during lockdown, but it became clear that, even with present restrictions, the needs and opportunities remained.

WHEC therefore prayerfully proceeded. Gordon and Jane moved into the area in August and Gordon commenced his role in September, initially part-time. Please pray for Gordon and Jane and the future ministry.
