Open Doors UK has launched its Arise Africa campaign to raise awareness of violent persecution, displacement, and injustice affecting Christians across sub-Saharan Africa.

The organisation says more than 90% of Christians killed for their faith last year were in this region.

Islamist extremists are a major driver of the violence, particularly amid political instability and conflict, although Open Doors acknowledges that not all violence affecting Christians is religiously motivated.

The campaign is calling for greater international action to protect Christians, pursue justice, and support displaced communities.

It also aims to raise prayer and financial support for local churches and Open Doors partners providing emergency relief and trauma care.
