You are in safe hands when you pick up a book by Brian Edwards. Yes, there are many books on the Bible, but this one makes the claim that it will impart ‘all we need to know’.

This deals with the authority and accuracy of the Bible and explains what is meant by ‘inspiration’ and ‘inerrancy’. It reproduces the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy in full.

There is a chapter on Jesus’ use of the Old Testament (OT) Scriptures as God’s Word. Another chapter covers the apostles’ usage of OT Scriptures. The New Testament (NT) authors found fuller meaning when quoting the OT, showing how vital it is that we spend as much time in the OT as the NT.

A final chapter deals with the sufficiency of Scripture. What do we mean when we say that the Bible tells us all we need to know? How do we assess claims that ‘the Lord has revealed’ this or that to me? These questions are addressed carefully.

The comprehensive aim of this series of six volumes renders them ideal for serious study. The series will provide new believers with a solid grounding in the Scriptures, but all of us need regular reminders of the priceless treasure we have in our hands when we open the Bible.
