The so-called ‘Tickle v. Giggle’ case, which seeks a legal ruling on the definition of a woman, has been heard by the full court of the Federal Court of Australia.

The dispute centers on a female-only social media app, called Giggle for Girls, which blocked Roxanne Tickle from joining in 2021 because he is a biological male who identifies as a woman.

In August 2024, a federal court judge ruled in favour of the man, but the CEO of the online app, Sall Grover, (pictured) has appealed against that decision.

Her appeal was heard by a full court of the Federal Court, and the hearing lasted two and a half days from 3-6 August. A ruling is expected sometime before February 2026.
