A theology lecturer at a Methodist Bible college has been sacked for a social media post saying homosexuality is ‘invading’ the church.

Dr Aaron Edwards, aged 37, says he was also threatened with referral to the government’s anti-terrorism watchdog, Prevent.

Edwards was posting on Twitter in response to the Church of England’s decision to allow the blessing of same sex couples.

On 19 February 2023, Edwards tweeted, ‘Homosexuality is invading the Church. Evangelicals no longer see the severity of this b/c they’re busy apologising for their apparently barbaric homophobia, whether or not it’s true. This *is* a Gospel issue, by the way. If sin is no longer sin, we no longer need a Saviour.’
