How precious is the church! Gloriously, Christ is the head of the church, wielding his authority for her good. The church is described as the body of Christ, the fullness of him who fills the church and dwells in her by his Spirit.
The church is the one to whom Christ has committed himself in covenant love, even to purchase her as his holy bride. We read that ‘Christ also loved the church and gave himself for her’ (Ephesians 5:25).
In Christ, the church is truly blessed, which includes the church of which you are a member. Let us bathe in the privilege of being part of a local church, which knows true communion with God in Christ.
Privileges and responsibilities
However, with great privileges come great responsibilities. Christ is the head of each local church, and we must submit to his gracious rule, particularly concerning our subject, that of work in the church.
