Cumnock Baptist Church

On Tuesday 19 April, 168 ladies from Cumnock and the surrounding churches attended this year’s Easter rally.

The numbers were most encouraging on a lovely, warm spring evening for an event which has been running for the past 30 years. The singing trio ‘One way’ ministered to the gathering in song, focusing on the Easter story.

Rev. John MacLeod spoke from Luke 10:38-41 on ‘At the home of Martha and Mary’. He spoke of the many distractions of life that can prevent us knowing the joy of coming to Christ and enjoying fellowship with God.

Martha’s distraction was contrasted with Mary’s submission. Mary enjoyed a loving, submissive relationship with her glorious Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The gospel was clearly presented and the message was challenging to Christians that our focus must be on the Lord. The evening concluded with the fitting words of the hymn ‘My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness’.
