A senior female doctor is taking legal action against a NHS Trust over its policy of allowing biological men who identify as women to have access to a psychiatric ward for vulnerable women.
The consultant psychiatrist, known as ‘Dr A’, is being supported in her legal action by the Christian Legal Centre.
Dr A said she had raised her concerns because psychiatric inpatients can be particularly vulnerable, adding that female patients who have experienced abuse or trauma should have their privacy and dignity protected.
