At least 72 Christians have been killed in a series of attacks by Islamist militants in Ituri Province, north-eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to Barnabas Aid.
The charity reported that more than 200 Christians have been killed in Ituri since mid-July, amid renewed attacks by Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP), also known as the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
The worst reported incident occurred on 28 August, when ISCAP fighters killed 29 Christians in the villages of Mabakoa and Biam, near Biakto. Around 40 houses were reportedly burned, forcing hundreds of villagers to flee.
