LGBT activists in Seattle have tried to designate one of the World Cup football matches as a ‘Pride Match’ to tie in with Seattle’s Pride weekend.

But the two teams scheduled to play in Seattle on that day, 26 June, are Muslim-majority nations Iran and Egypt, who have both made strong objections to the tournament’s organisers, FIFA.

Meanwhile, Christian campaign group CitizenGo has launched a petition against using the World Cup to platform LGBT activism and ideology.

In a statement, they said, ‘The FIFA World Cup should be about football. The players. The fans. The nations. The dreams of millions of children watching from home.’
