Guidance for handling trans issues in schools still not ready

Divisions within the Cabinet are believed to be delaying the publication of guidance for schools on how to handle transgender issues.

Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch wants to tell schools they should not treat ‘gender confused’ children as if they are the opposite of their birth sex.

But the Attorney General Victoria Prentis says that would require changes to equality laws. However, Badenoch disagrees and wants to press ahead without the need for fresh legislation.
