A Christian pro-democracy campaigner for Hong Kong says religious freedom will be the next thing to be threatened by the Chinese government.

Speaking in response to the 25th anniversary of the UK handing the territory back to China, Benedict Rogers – co-founder of Hong Kong Watch – said he was concerned.

He said a free media, freedom to protest, and academic freedom had all been taken away, adding, ‘And I do think that freedom of religion or belief is likely to be the next target in Hong Kong.’
