Christians are suffering disproportionately in south-east India because of political and religious prejudice, after flooding hit the region.
According to the British Asian Christian Association, a significant portion of the affected population is made up of lower-caste Christians living in low-lying areas.
In a newsletter, the BACA said, ‘With 70 percent [of the population] identifying as Christian, these communities have suffered disproportionately, facing neglect due to political and religious biases.’
The catastrophic flooding displaced one million people and claimed at least 35 lives, according to reports.
