The Christian Institute’s decision to challenge the Civil Service’s official endorsement of Pride is not an act of hostility, but of principle. At its heart, this case is about impartiality – the cornerstone of public trust in government. Civil servants are meant to serve the whole public, not signal allegiance to one side of a controversial debate.
When rainbow lanyards, Pride flags, and pronoun declarations appear on government property and communications, they carry a clear political message. However sincerely intended, they suggest that the State has taken sides on questions of sex, gender, and identity – matters on which the public profoundly disagree.
Landmark case will challenge Civil Service gay pride support
A Christian group has launched a legal case to stop civil servants wearing LGBT rainbow lanyards, adding preferred pronouns to public-facing emails, or officially taking part in Pride parades.
