As Christians we all need leaders to inspire us by their courage – the authentic faith of those whose supreme confidence is in the Lord. That we too might heed the psalmist who says: ‘Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD’ (Psalm 31:24 NKJV).

That is where true courage comes from – confidence in the Lord and confidence in his Word. He is always right about all things, and we can know with certainty that he will perfectly fulfil all his promises and accomplish all his glorious plans. Those who live in the light of that reality have a profound impact on those around them. It is so compelling to rally around those whose convictions are not for sale. John MacArthur was one such man.

The life and ministry of John MacArthur has had a profound impact on innumerable Christians around the world, and that includes here in the UK and across Europe. As the European Director of Grace to You (GTY) I have witnessed at first hand the fruit of that profound and widespread impact, especially upon young men training for pastoral ministry or serving as pastors in Eastern Europe.
