Nigerian death toll

The number of deaths caused by bomb attacks against Christians in Nigeria has reached more than 80, according to news reports.

Two Islamist groups claimed responsibility since the Christmas Eve terrorist attacks against Christians in Jos and Maiduguri and, according to reports from Reuters and the BBC, evidence suggests the blasts may have been politically motivated.

In January, the Archbishop of Jos, the Rt Rev. Benjamin Kwashi, called for Christians to show restraint and for media reports not to ‘pitch the two communities against each other’.
