Pastor for West Row

West Row Baptist Chapel welcomed its new pastor, Evan King, in an induction service held on Saturday 19 June. The old chapel, which is due to celebrate its bicentenary in 2012, is located just outside the large American military airbase of RAF Mildenhall and in the village of West Row in Suffolk.

The chapel was packed with friends from all around East Anglia. Rev. Robert Strivens, Principal of London Theological Seminary, preached from 1 Timothy 4:6-16.

He brought out three main principles: first, that the Word of God must affect all God’s children. The pastor must not just read to pick up sermon material, but should pray that the Word of God will affect his life first of all, so that he can bring the Word to his congregation.

Secondly, he said that we must all live out God’s teachings as revealed in the Bible; and, thirdly, that all God’s people have a glorious hope that one day they will be with Christ forever.

Pastor King was joined by his family during the service. All the members and congregation of West Row Baptist are excited at the beginning of this new chapter in the life of the church and look forward to God’s leading in the coming days. Mr King commenced his ministry at West Row Baptist on 1 July (more information: www.westrowbaptist.org.uk).
