Sharnbrook

Nearly 200 people gathered at Sharnbrook Upper School on Saturday 27 October to celebrate the induction of John Heron as pastor of Sharnbrook Evangelical Church, near Bedford. John and Philippa Heron come from Beccles Baptist Church, where John served alongside Roger Prime for three years. Prior to this, John had completed three years training at Oak Hill College.

There was a strong note of joy and thanksgiving in the service. The church had been without a pastor since 2004 and had gone through some difficult times. But in 2006 it appointed three interim elders from other fellowships to provide interim spiritual oversight. Since that time the Lord has given new hope and faith and opened the door for John Heron to come.

The service was led by one of the interim elders, Martyn Hallett from Goldington Evangelical Church, Bedford. Goldington was the church from which the fellowship in Sharnbrook was planted in the early nineties. The other interim elders, Ian Rees and Phil Walter from Brixworth Christian Fellowship, also took part.

The preacher was Paul Pease, pastor of Hook Evangelical Church, where John and his family were based prior to going to Oak Hill.
