Sowing the seed

Farming Christian Link and the Open-Air Mission took a stand at the Hertfordshire County Show on one of the wettest weeks of early summer.

Bernard Hicks of FCL said it was the first time that the organisation had taken a stand at the weekend show, which saw thousands of people from across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire gather to look at everything from prize cattle to fast cars and falconry.

In spite of rain for most of Saturday, Mr Hicks and the OAM helpers, Andy Little and Steve Burton, gave out more than 600 tracts and scripture text cards, drawing people’s attention to the wonder of God’s creation and their need of a Saviour.

Many Bible lessons were given to children, and there were many useful gospel conversations with people on neighbouring stands, as well as with visitors to the FCL tent.

It was also a joy to a member of the ET editorial team visiting the show with non-Christian friends, who came across the FCL tent by a wonderful ‘God-incidence’. Mr Hicks has asked for prayer for the seed sown that wet weekend.
