Celebrating our adoption

September 2015 | by Phil Topham

Seven FIEC churches in south-east London gathered for a joint service in June to hear about the joy and blessing of belonging to God’s family, from ‘Home for Good’ founder Krish Kandiah.

Home for Good is a Christian adoption and fostering charity. As well as sharing about its work, Krish preached about the joy of Christian adoption from Galatians 4. The joint evening service took place at Slade Evangelical Church in Plumstead.

Wes McNabb, one of the Slade pastors, said, ‘It was a great message from Krish. We didn’t just want him to speak about Home for Good, we wanted a biblical challenge about the joy and blessing of belonging to God’s family.

‘Krish teased out the wonderful truth of adoption from Galatians 4 and explained how it links with God’s salvation and rescue. Adoption gives us inheritance and acceptance, as we become joint heirs with Christ’.

More than 250 people gathered for the joint service. Prayers were led by a couple who are starting to explore the adoption process, before Krish spoke to the teens and 20s group after the evening service, about God’s heart in justice and mercy.

Krish said, ‘It was fantastic to gather Christians from churches across the region, to worship, pray and study Scripture together. We took a long hard look at what the Bible has to say about our responsibilities to care for the vulnerable, by reflecting on James 1 and Isaiah 1. I was overwhelmed by the interest those present showed in Home for Good, as we seek to find a loving home for every child that needs one in the UK’.
