Campaigners for CitizenGo brought a vigil to the doors of the UN headquarters in New York, laying out crosses on the pavement.
Each cross bore the name of Nigerian Christians killed by militants, bringing the ‘names of our persecuted brothers and sisters to the very centre of global power’, according to a statement.
This came as at least 24 Nigerians were killed and more than 30 kidnapped on Easter Sunday during attacks by suspected Islamist militants.
According to Barnabas Aid partners, gunmen stormed into the community of Mbalom in Benue State in the morning. Seventeen villagers were killed and homes were torched.
