PM: I’m the pastor of Spirit of Life Reformed Baptist Church in Bristol. We began as a Pentecostal, charismatic, word of faith, prosperity gospel church. But we changed to a Reformed church coming out of the charismatic movement, which is a dangerous and deceptive movement leading many people astray.
RS: What is the spiritual climate like in Bristol?
PM: Every political group that you can think of is in Bristol. On any given Saturday there’s some protest or other being held in the city, with people unafraid to voice their views.
Against that backdrop we’ve had to stand with great courage to declare God’s Word. Like many others who’ve gone before us in this city, we’ve had to stand on platforms with trembling lips and shaking knees. Each Saturday we trust that God will embolden us to speak forth his Word.
What are the people like in the city? We find that the younger generation are making decisions and forming opinions based on only bite-sized information they get from social media.
