A petition set up by the advocacy group CitizenGO is calling on the government to withdraw or substantially amend its draft bill to criminalise conversion practices.
Over 26,000 people have signed the petition, expressing concern that the legislation could have implications for parents, churches, counsellors, and others engaged in conversations about sexuality and gender identity.
The petition, entitled ‘Conversations Are Not Criminal – Protect Parents, Clergy and Free Speech’, has been launched ahead of the draft legislation undergoing pre-legislative scrutiny.
