UK Foreign secretary Ed Miliband has received a petition from ADF International that has called on the British government to do more to protect young girls from being forced into marriage in Pakistan.
The petition points to the fact that the UK sends aid to Pakistan, and therefore it has a moral obligation to put pressure on the Pakistani government to end forced and child marriage.
For the financial year 25/26, the UK government development funding for Pakistan was set at £103m, according to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
