Peers in the House of Lords lined up to voice their grave misgivings about a bill to legalise assisted suicide.
The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is now being considered by the House of Lords, having narrowly passed its stages in the Commons.
An analysis of the speeches on the first day of the Second Reading debate by the pro-life group, Right to Life, found that two thirds of the speeches were opposed to the bill.
After the debate, Lord Jackson of Peterborough said, ‘This kind of opposition at Second Reading is a clear indication of the direction the bill is heading.
