In astonishing scenes caught on video, police had to protect pro-life students from a threatening crowd that had surrounded their meeting.

Pro-abortion activists were protesting against the formation of a new pro-life society at the University of Manchester when the scene turned violent.

Police officers had to escort the pro-life students to safety and hold back members of the angry crowd, reported to number up to 300 people.

The Manchester Pro-Life Society met for a talk on the evening of 1 March, and the harassment began as soon as students tried to access the building hosting the event.
