Why are there over 6,000 different languages in the world? It followed the judgment of God that took place when man started to build the Tower of Babel. Before that, everyone spoke the same language, and surely one day we will all speak the same language again.
During the Day of Pentecost in AD 33, something remarkable happened. The Greek- and Hebrew-speaking apostles were given the gift of being able to speak in multiple other languages. Suddenly, and in a great reversal of the confusion of Babel, all those gathered from different nations could understand God’s Word. What was the result? 3,000 were saved, united by Jesus Christ.
I believe this is a foretaste of heaven, when the curse of different languages will be done away. We will all speak the same language.
