New statutory guidance from the Equality Commission on single-sex services came into force at the start of August, but a group of Darlington nurses say there is still work to be done.
The guidance follows the Supreme Court’s ruling earlier this year that ‘sex’ in the Equality Act 2010 refers to biological sex, a decision that angered transgender activists.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) Code of Practice, which took effect on 5 August, provides updated guidance for organisations providing services, exercising public functions, or operating associations.
