Four Sudanese men who converted to Christianity from a Muslim background have been charged with apostasy.

The men, who are not being named for fear of reprisal attacks, were arrested following a raid on their church in Zallingei, Darfur, on 22 June this year.

They were each questioned and beaten before being released. The authorities also confiscated Bibles and technical equipment belonging to the church.
