Can you remember the first time you went to church? I can’t. My parents took me to church when I was a baby. They took me and my older sister every week. And then when my younger brother came along, they took all three of us. Morning and evening.
Three became four. Four became five. In the end we were a family of eight children. Me, my older sister, five young brothers, and a second sister who was the baby of the family. My parents took us to church every Sunday morning, every Sunday evening. We often arrived late. But we got there.
It was simply part of the routine of life. I never questioned it. I never even thought about it. It was simply taken for granted. Churches held two services every Sunday, morning and evening. We went to both. And we saw the same people every Sunday at both services.
