Unveiling the Cross: Beholding and Proclaiming the Whole Christ

W. Ross Blackburn was moved by the challenge in Sinclair Ferguson’s Some Pastors and Teachers (Banner of Truth, 2017, see pp. 698-99) to the effect that contemporary preaching is ‘veiling the cross’. 

To recover a vision of the cross, Blackburn turns to Isaiah 6. This chapter witnesses a profound change in Isaiah, the source of which is his seeing Jesus. This book, then, is ‘about Christ and him crucified’. Through nine chapters, Blackburn takes words and images found in Isaiah 6 and, drawing on all of Scripture, he opens up the theme of worship and the atonement.
