Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has signed legislation removing the state’s existing 24-week limit on abortion, allowing abortions up to birth.
House Bill 5595, known as the ‘Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act’, removes previous legal protections applying after 24 weeks of pregnancy.
It also removes the requirement that late-term abortions be carried out in a hospital. Under the new law, a single physician may sign off on an abortion.
