New Stornoway church

Another breakaway minister from the Free Church of Scotland has joined the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Scotland (RPCOS). Rev. David Karoon of Arran has been taking services at their new congregation in Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis.
Mr Karoon left the Free Church earlier this year after a church assembly voted to allow congregations freedom to sing hymns in worship services or continue using exclusive psalmody.
He was accepted by the RPCOS, which has started to grow in Scotland, especially with the new church founded in Stornoway from people leaving the Free Church.
In a web site statement, the Stornoway church said, ‘The RPCOS has decided to commence holding services of public worship with a view to establishing a congregation in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis.
‘This decision is in response to a request made by a number of Christians and is motivated by a wholly positive desire to proclaim the gospel’. Public worship services at 11.00am and 6.30pm started on 10 July, at Culregrein Mission House on Perceval Road.
There are two existing Free Church congregations in Stornoway, led by Iver Martin and Kenny Macleod. More information: www.stornowayrpcs.org
