A new conference for church leaders seeking to re-shape their church to reach their communities has been launched in the UK by the team at US-based church, North Point Ministries.
Called ‘Further, Faster UK’, the conference, running from 7-8 July 2017 in Berkshire, will share experiences from North Point Ministries in Atlanta, USA, where Andy Stanley is senior pastor. It will explore ways in which leadership teams can make a positive impact on their local community and create environments that not only appeal to those who do not attend church, but which encourage and inspire them to return and participate in church life.
The two-day conference, hosted by Lead Academy, will cover a mix of sessions, teaching and seminars on topics including healthy leadership culture, small group ministry, children and youth programmes and creative Sunday services.
North Point Ministries has experienced significant growth since it began in 1995, with more than 36,000 attending their weekend services in six churches across the Atlanta area.
According to one UK pastor, the work of North Point Ministries is applicable to small, rural UK churches as well as American mega-churches. For example, Forge Church in the UK has seen substantial growth since following and adapting North Point Ministries’ principles. Its pastor Steve Fenning comments, ‘Our church is based in rural Suffolk, among farming communities, but through adopting some of the key values modelled at North Point, we have experienced significant growth, planting our third congregation on Easter Sunday’.
