Many met together on Saturday 2 September to witness the induction of Conrad Pomeroy to the pastorate of Dudley Baptist Church.
People came from as far as Wick and Dundee. There was plenty of sun, plenty of people, plenty of food and plenty of blessing from the Lord. It was a day most of us will long remember. We experienced the favour of the Lord in an exceptional manner. The church secretary gave a history of Conrad’s call to the church. The new pastor then spoke of the immense struggle he and his wife had in making the decision to accept the call; telling the large congregation that after 16 happy years in the ministry at Dundee, it was difficult to leave that situation and come to Priory Road.
Mr Nathan Pomeroy had been asked to preach giving the charge to the new pastor who was his natural and spiritual brother. He brought a stirring message about the pastor’s responsibility, based on these words to Moses, ‘Be strong and of a good courage’.
After the act of induction, the church’s former pastor, Alun McNabb, gave a challenging word from Hebrews 13:17, in which he urged us to consider the potential for good of the pastor doing his work with joy.
