Education – Highland Theological College

December 2015

Highland Theological College (HTC), University of the Highland and Islands, has appointed two members of staff to run its newly opened base in Glasgow.

Mrs Pamela Adkins and Rev. Nathan Owens will run the classrooms based at Newton Place in Glasgow’s west end, with teaching being delivered mainly by video-conferencing from the college’s main campus in Dingwall. The Glasgow premises has been established in time for the start of the new academic session.

HTC has experienced a growing demand for its theological studies degree from people in the central belt of Scotland. The demand has grown especially following the demise of International Christian College, which had provided theological education and training for ministry in Glasgow since 1892, but ceased educational operations earlier in the summer.

Rev. Hector Morrison, HTC principal, said, ‘The closure of International Christian College brings a significant loss to theological education in Scotland and beyond. We at HTC are excited to be able to establish this new facility, in order to make provision for evangelical theological education in Glasgow.

‘As an HTC graduate himself, Rev. Owens will be a great support to central belt-based students who want to study on campus with a peer group for support and interaction. Mrs Adkins has excellent administrative experience to run the new facility’.
