Event – Bible in the Dales

July 2016

Yorkshire camps have launched a new venture, ‘Bible in the Dales’. The aim is to bring good Bible teaching and Christian fellowship to the rural communities of the Dales and their surrounding communities.

The event was held over the early May bank holiday, just a few miles from Grassington, with people attending from all over the country and enjoying three days of rich ministry.

Delegates were undeterred by cold weather and accompanying transport issues as they gathered to hear Dr Steve Brady, principal of Moorlands Bible College, preach on various Psalms.

Running simultaneously through the weekend was a programme for children. This took place in Netherside Hall, the home of Yorkshire Camps. There was a hearty ‘Songs of Praise’ on Sunday evening, which was supported by churches in the area.

On Bank Holiday Monday, the emphasis shifted to an evangelistic focus, so that those who had already benefitted from the ministry could bring their friends and neighbours to hear the gospel proclaimed.

Roger Carswell and David Earnshaw of Inskip Baptist Church, shared the history of Christianity in Yorkshire, including numerous anecdotes from local Christians over many centuries, intertwined with the gospel message.

‘Bible in the Dales’ is an answer to the prayers of many who for years have longed for a Bible Convention in Yorkshire, where the Lord is honoured. It is open to all and free of charge. The aim is for this to be an annual event, with next year’s planned for 29 April-1 May.
